EFEKTIVITAS SABUN MINYAK JELANTAH EKSTRAK DAUN JAMBLANG DALAM MENURUNKAN ANGKA KUMAN
Varieties of flora and fauna have an important role in the wealth of a country. The
potential of this natural material can be used as a source of material for the
development of research and science. One of the natural potentials that Indonesia has
is the jamblang plant which has antibacterial potential. This substance can be used as
an active ingredient in an antiseptic. One example is the active substance in soap which
is generally triclosan. In making soap, free fatty acids are needed which come from oil.
Waste cooking oil can be used as an alternative ingredient for making soap. Previous
research results show that jamblang leaf extract soap has quite good potential as an
antiseptic. The aim of this research was to look at the effectiveness of jamblang leaf
extract soap in reducing the number of germs. The research stages consisted of making
extracts, refining used cooking oil, testing soap preparations, and testing soap
effectiveness. The results obtained show that jamblang leaf extract soap meets SNI 06-
3532-1994 standards seen from the test parameters for water content, pH level and
percentage of free fatty acids. The number of respondents in this study was 10 people
who were divided into group one using extract soap and group two using soap without
extract. Identification of bacteria on the hands of the ten respondents showed that the
bacteria on their hands contained Gram-negative and positive bacteria. Apart from
that, this extract soap can reduce the number of germs before and after use. This can
be seen from the decrease in the number of growing colonies after using soap
